Whether you’ve been laid off, decided you’ve had enough of the general public for now, OR if you’re homebound due to a global pandemic or even crappy weather – chances are, you might just be bored out of your skull.
The idea here is to lighten things up as best as you can. So how do you go about doing something like this?
Well, I’ve got a few ideas.
3 Ways to Stay Home Without Losing Your Mind
1 – Find something funny
Laughter really is the best medicine for just about anything, including boredom, frustration or illness. When we laugh, we release oxytocin – a hormone that helps to produce things like love, well-being and even helps with anxiety.
The idea here is to engage in things that make you feel joyful - especially if it's clean and no one's expense. My suggestion? Watch some George Carlin videos, blooper reels or anything that makes you laugh. #stayinghomeClick To TweetTrust me on this one, guys. Find something funny, laugh out loud and I promise you, you’ll feel happier and more connected to life immediately, regardless of how long you’re stuck at home.
2 – Learn to cook
Given that restaurants are either closed, ordering out is becoming expensive or perhaps you’ve been wanting to learn to eat healthier for a while now and you simply haven’t been motivated or had the time to do anything to change that, now is as good a time as any to start spending some time in the kitchen.
Working with food can be extremely therapeutic. It’s a creative activity that helps you feel empowered and can promote health and well-being if you look for healthy recipes of your favorite dishes.
There are a variety of healthy cooking channels online and you can still get your groceries delivered. Do what you can with what you’ve got to work with and get cooking. It’ll pass the time, save you money and possibly change your life for the better in the long run.
3 – Be creative
Creativity is magic. Whether it's an art project, home decor, repainting the walls, cooking or solving problems, creativity is an inherent gift we all have in one capacity or another. #creativity #iammyimaginationClick To TweetWith an abundance of free and inexpensive online courses out there, you can learn any number of new skills. Until now, that is.
