What does it mean to become your own guru?
It means that to wake up, discover the truth and free your mind, you’ll have to connect to the inherent wisdom inside of you. This can be done by making a choice and I’m going to help you.
True freedom comes from within. To gain access to this, you must be brave enough to face your conditioning, observe the world around you with an open mind and allow the deconstruction of the false sense of self to happen.

“It’s Okay to Question Things and Not Accept As Is”
Ever since I was a child I have always questioned things and not taken what I’ve been told as truth. I was thought of as a troublemaker at times. Dana obviously has felt the same way in order to write this book. Dana has pointed out that we need to become “free thinkers” and make up our own minds and not let all decisions be carved out for us and be the way our family has thought and taught us for generations. It’s okay to question things. I love her suggestions of stepping outside yourself and look at yourself as another person and see what is causing turmoil in your life and decide what is best for you. “You Owe It To Yourself To Choose Awareness”
For most of my life I believed what I was told and/or taught. I looked up to my parents and teachers thinking that they were older so they definitely knew more than me. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I started to question things. It took me years to get to the place Dana is sharing with us in this book. We have to think for ourselves and question everything. I’ve learned that the most important thing to me in life is to just be happy. It’s hard to do when you have so many things outside of yourself trying to draw you in constantly. We all have to think for ourselves and it’s up to us to choose the kind of people we want to be. We have to look inside of ourselves. Once you’re able to do that though and continue down that path, your life can be as amazing as you want. Just choose awareness, it’s your life savor. Thank you Dana for sharing this book and your own personal stories with us.

“How Do You Free Your Mind When You’ve Been Conditioned?”
How do you free your mind when you’ve been conditioned from birth? Most of us don’t even realize that we’ve been subtly conditioned. But Dana shares some examples from her own life that help put everything into context.
There was one chapter about conditioning that put a smile on my face as I related to it immediately: “You can’t have your pudding if you don’t eat your meat.” In Dana’s case her mind was telling her she couldn’t have anything to eat until she’d finished her work. When you’ve been conditioned with thoughts and mantras like that you begin to realize how many more conditions and influences you’ve had.
Dana challenges us to free our mind from these thoughts and start questioning our beliefs.
