When it comes to freelancing, creativity and just about anything else related to growing your business, it helps (actually it’s imperative) to learn social media marketing.
I’ll admit I still have a lot to learn. I’m such an introvert in person and unfortunately, this spills over to my online presence as well (except for the Stephen King book enthusiasts group I participate in. I’m pretty vocal over there).
So with that being said, I’m thankful I found a place where I can learn from home and connect with others who are all sharing their experiences with social media marketing.
In this post, I’ll go over why social media marketing is so important and how Savvy Social School offers the tools and education to help you shine online with your peers, colleagues, and frenemies.
Social Media Marketing – Why it Matters
Perhaps you haven’t noticed…but these days, everything happens online.
We hear about people getting engaged, married (and divorced) on Facebook. We see pictures of your kids, your vacation and even that delicious looking half-eaten salad you ordered at the new bistro down the street. It has a 4.3-star rating and the reviews are pretty solid.
We post personal details about our lives every day. We also share our projects, talk about our careers and extend deals and promotions to our online community – hoping to score a lead or a sale.
So if we’re creating info for people, doesn’t it make sense to learn how to be savvy about it – especially when it comes to our work?
And since we’ve reached an age where we can build businesses and share pertinent information to those who would benefit from what we have to offer, it only makes sense to learn how to do it the right way.
Take public speaking for example.
Most people are scared to death when they think about speaking in public. I know the idea freaks me out, so for someone like me, I would probably need to consider attending something like a Toastmasters group or finding a coach.
Online marketing is a lot like public speaking. There's an art to it. To do it intelligently it's probably wise to think about aligning yourself with the people and tools that'll teach you the skills necessary to become proficient at it.Click To TweetSocial media marketing works the same way. Just because you know how to post about your business (and your life) doesn’t mean you’re getting the most out of it.
I know I’m not.
My natural personality is a combination of witty and intense. My posts usually come across as sincere, but more often than not, they’re usually either serious or silly. Or just plain bland.
Honestly, I need all the help I can get.
Not to mention, when it comes to things like:
- keywords
- tagging
- hashtags
- SEO
- niche research
- blog post titles
- image creation
- capturing audience attention
- administrative tools and organization systems and hacks
I’m totally lost.
This is why I’m thankful I found Andréa Jones and her impressive social media marketing school.
Learn Social Media Marketing with Savvy Social School
Andréa Jones is the creator of Savvy Social School. She’s a “tender-hearted tech-loving social media strategist” who’s been helping her clients succeed with social media marketing for years. You can learn more about her by visiting her website onlindrea.com.
She created the school for people who, like me, need help learning everything there is to know about how social media marketing works.
Once I became a student, I was impressed by the vast library of educational tools available to me. And since I’m such a huge fan of online learning platforms, I kinda felt like Agustus Gloop bending over that river of chocolate water in Wonka Land – drinking it all in.
From the dashboard, I have access to tools such as:
- An abundance of social media marketing training videos.
- “Done for you” posts consisting of quotes, questions of the day, Instagram stories and even a full bundle of holiday posts.
- Worksheets, workbooks, checklists and scheduling templates.
- An interactive community filled with others who have been welcoming and helpful.
When there’s a new course or live training, I get an email with the details. If I can’t make it, I know I’ll be able to watch them once I log in.
I’ve used the “done for you” posts on the I AM My Imagination Facebook page. I think they’re fun to use, they save me time, and Andréa taught me how to brand and personalize them in one of the videos in the training library.
I’ve also had questions regarding this blog. I’m currently working on a gift for you guys and I needed some insight as to the best way to go about formatting everything. I received a lot of helpful feedback from the community forum – and I can’t express how grateful I am to have access to something like that.
I could go on and on about the school, but honestly, I think you’d get a kick out of checking it out for yourself.
Social Media Marketing Made Friendly
To be completely honest, I have issues learning new skills. I’m tech (un)savvy and as much as I enjoy adding new tools to my toolbox and increasing my knowledge base, I just have trouble picking things up.
I need to be able to ask questions and know I’m not bothering anyone. I also like to know it won’t take a week to receive an answer. The people over at Savvy Social School have made learning easy and in such a friendly way.
It’s intimidating enough to try to keep up with each and every new tool and strategy required to market your business. And as I’d mentioned earlier, I’m extremely introverted. Since this extends to my online presence, I really could use all the help I can get.
If this sounds like you, I think you’ll enjoy this platform. And even if you are savvy, it’s always cool to meet new people and build relationships with folks from around the world.
I actually met Andréa because I know her husband, author Brent Jones through his former website where “better freelancing” was his specialty. Back then, I did a guest post for his blog and since then, I’ve been a follower of his books (Fender is pretty badass).
I love that you can get to know people through blogging and social media, especially when you get to learn from one another. In a society where I see so many people looking to change careers or advance in their current ones, it just makes sense to build relationships and learn how to utilize social media intelligently.

Helping Freelancers and Creatives
Over the years, I’ve shared my thoughts with you about life, healthy living and the world in which we live. These days, while I continue to stand by everything I’ve ever written, I’d prefer to help you to live your truth, be creative and free your mind.

Great article, Dana.
Really enjoyed it, especially since you know that I’m a member of the Savvy Social School also =)
It’s the only membership platform I’m a part of because Social Media skills are critical to your success online anymore.
You described it beautifully, so I’d like to put in my two cents here and say that if you need a community that can be enjoyed and learned at your own pace, whatever speed that is, this is the perfect school to join.
Plus, there’s always more being taught and exchanged both from Andrea and between members, so there’s something fresh being learned all the time.
Thanks for sharing, Dana!
